Last week, Carls Furniture announced that they plan to exit Chapter 11 bankruptcy within the next 60 to 90 days. An exit plan was presented to Bankruptcy Court Judge John Olson and needs approval from the furniture store’s unsecured creditors.
The Coconut Creek-based furniture store’s bankruptcy exit plan includes maintaining its 70,000-square foot headquarters and 60,000 square-foot store in Pompano Beach. The company’s third-largest location in Fort Lauderdale will also remain open. A 30,000-square foot store in Fort Lauderhill and a North Dade showroom will close.
Carls released a statement about their plan to exit Chapter 11 bankruptcy which states, “the plan will provide for a dividend to unsecured creditors and protect the customers of Carls who have ordered furniture.”
